Angie Kinzinger, DVM - Angie grew up in Southern Illinois, south of Carbondale and had always wanted to be veterinarian while growing up. The oldest of four girls, she started working for a local vet at age 15 cleaning kennels, etc.--a job that her mom thought would "cure" her of the whole vet notion, but the rest, as they say is history! She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1989, where she met her future husband, the wonderful Russell Kinzinger. After practicing for a year in a mixed animal practice in Flora, IL and two years at a mixed practice in Nashville, IL, she and Russell opened AnRus Veterinary Clinic in Freeburg. As the family grew, Angie went to more part time practice, eventually stepping down from the clinic for a season to home school their children in 2003. She currently keeps the books for the clinic, consults on cases for Russell, does the occasional surgery and is greatly expanding her medical training and expertise on the human side as she cares for five sons with various significant medical special needs. As they get older, she hopes to join Russell more at the clinic, but for now, life is full!
Russell Kinzinger, DVM - Russell grew up on his family's grain and livestock farm between New Athens and Freeburg, with his two brothers and three sisters, where his love and curiosity of animals developed and eventually led to his career. The family farm and various animals in his large extended family keeps him in touch with the daily husbandry of many species. He loves the small town atmosphere that AnRus Veterinary Clinic is able to provide to neighbors and friends, both the current and those yet to come... He enjoys being able to practice all aspects of veterinary medicine as a mixed animal vet, including after hours services for clients in times of need, but also the ability to work with specialists in the Metro-East on complex cases. It is gratifying to see clients "around town" and greet each other as friends. Russell is blessed to be living out his dream of being a mixed animal veterinarian, married to his beautiful wife, Angie, and having been able to raise his family of 8 children where he grew up. He invites those looking for the small town atmosphere, where you will see the same doctor and staff every visit, to come see us if you are in need of veterinary care for your pet.
