Surgical Services
At AnRus Veterinary Clinic, Inc., our doctors are trained to perform many surgical
procedures including routine surgical procedures and surgeries required as the result of
trauma and illnesses. Some examples of procedures we perform include spays, neuters,
cryptorchid neuters, hernia repairs, dew claw removal, mass removal, exploratory surgery
for foreign body removal or intestinal biopsy, cystotomy for bladder stone removal,
amputations, eye enucleation, eyelid correction, laceration repair, and ear hematoma
repair. If a surgery is outside of the expertise of our doctors, requires immediate
surgical intervention, or requires intensive post-op monitoring, we may refer your pet to a
specialty or emergency facility within the St. Louis Metro area for your pet to get the best
care possible.
Our team is experienced and treats every surgery as if it were our own pet, including using safe anesthetics and monitoring patient vitals during the procedure. We recommend presurgical bloodwork for all pets before anesthesia, especially for pets over the age of five or with other health concerns. This helps to screen for potential diseases that may be otherwise missed. All pets undergoing anesthesia also receive a thorough physical exam by a doctor before their procedure.
We realize that it can be stressful to have your pet undergo surgery–there are real risks involved. You can help minimize risks by following pre-operative instructions regarding restricting food and water, medications administered, etc. and notifying us of any illnesses or changes in your pet’s health status. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands, and that we will do everything possible to provide the best care possible. We will communicate with you about the things you need to know before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. It is our goal to make the entire process go smoothly and to eliminate as much of the stress and worry of surgical procedures as possible.
